From www.investmentlawwatch.com: (US context) Small Business Investment Companies (SBICs) currently have a Debenture Cap that limits the amount of debentures they can receive from the Small Business Administration to either $175 million or twice their limited partners’ commitments.

Some SBICs are raising funds of $125 million and publicly discussing potential increases to the Debenture Cap, which would enable them to seek up to $250 million in SBA debentures, resulting in a total fund size of $375 million.

This anticipated change would enhance SBIC capacity and facilitate more capital investment in U.S. small businesses.
