What’s changing about aged care?

by

Ed.

From faaa.au: The new Aged Care Bill, effective from July 1, 2025, requires new entrants to contribute more towards their aged care services and increases the maximum cost of a room in aged care facilities to $750,000, which will be indexed annually.

New care fees include a daily “Hotelling Contribution” and a “Non-Clinical Care Contribution” for everyday living expenses, while home care will transition to the Support at Home Program with revised service categories and pricing structures.

Grandfathering rules ensure that individuals already in the aged care system will not face increased fees, protecting them from the new regulations.
