From www.accountantsdaily.com.au: Opposition leader Peter Dutton has pledged to halve the fuel excise on petrol and diesel from 50.8 cents to 25.4 cents per litre for a year, aiming to provide immediate relief to Australians amid rising living costs.

He contrasts this plan with Labor’s delayed income tax cuts, which are set to take effect in mid-2026.

The proposed fuel excise cut would save a two-car household approximately $28 a week, totaling nearly $1,500 over the year.
