From www.abc.net.au: KordaMentha, the administrator of the Whyalla steelworks, has initiated legal action in the Federal Court to terminate a lease held by GFG Alliance over the adjacent port, arguing that control of the port is essential for preparing the steelworks for sale.

The administrators claim that the sale process cannot start until these port issues are resolved, stressing urgency due to funding constraints that may hinder operations beyond August.

South Australian Treasurer Stephen Mullighan supports this legal challenge, highlighting the need for uninterrupted access to the port facilities to maintain steel production and exports.
