HECS – HELP Debt in Bankruptcy

by

Ed.

From worrells.net.au: HECS – HELP debts are classified as “excluded debts” under the Bankruptcy Act (1966) and remain unaffected by bankruptcy, meaning individuals must repay them once their income exceeds a certain threshold.

Although repayments are suspended during bankruptcy if income is below the threshold, HECS – HELP debts persist and require payment post-bankruptcy.
