From pointonpartners.com.au: Clorox Australia Pty Ltd was ordered by the Federal Court of Australia to pay $8.25 million for misleading environmental claims about its “Glad to be Green” trash bags, which were incorrectly marketed as being made of “50% Ocean Plastic Recycled.”
The court found that Clorox engaged in deceptive conduct and made false representations regarding its products’ composition and environmental benefits under the Australian Consumer Law.
Despite the serious nature of the contraventions, Clorox did not intentionally mislead consumers and will implement a compliance program for the next three years as part of the court’s order.
