From mdl.com.au: The Australian government has agreed to key reforms in response to the independent review of the Modern Slavery Act 2018, committing to 25 out of 30 recommendations to enhance corporate accountability in addressing modern slavery risks.
These reforms include mandatory reporting for large companies on their modern slavery efforts, the introduction of penalties for non-compliance, and the establishment of an Australian Anti-Slavery Commissioner.
While the government has opted not to require due diligence systems at this stage, further consultations are planned to strengthen these requirements.
