From ministers.treasury.gov.au: The Albanese Government is proposing draft legislation that will require employers to pay superannuation on payday, starting from 1 July 2026, to improve retirement incomes for Australians.
This measure aims to address the issue of unpaid super, which amounted to an estimated $5.2 billion in 2021-22, and will also streamline the payment process for employers.
Submissions on the draft legislation are welcomed until 11 April 2025, with the goal of enhancing the superannuation system and ensuring workers receive timely compensation.
