From www.accountantsdaily.com.au: ASIC has advised small businesses to familiarise themselves with climate reporting requirements, as large businesses in their supply chains may request emissions-related information to meet scope 3 emissions reporting obligations.

Although small businesses are not directly affected by mandatory disclosure rules, they may need to provide data on energy use when requested by larger clients.

Beginning in 2028, large businesses exceeding certain revenue and asset thresholds will be required to report on climate impacts, with guidance available on the ASIC website.
