ATO: No blanket Bendel extension

From www.accountantsdaily.com.au: The ATO has confirmed it will not provide a blanket extension for lodgments relating to the Bendel decision, which revolves around unpaid present entitlements in private companies.

Deputy Commissioner Louise Clarke stated that the ATO has applied for special leave to appeal the decision to the High Court, and guidance will be provided depending on the outcome of that appeal process.

Taxpayers are advised to seek appropriate advice regarding the treatment of unpaid present entitlements when preparing their tax returns for 2024.
