ATO accused of “medical warfare”

From www.themandarin.com.au: The Australian Taxation Office is facing criticism from the Australian Services Union for allegedly engaging in “medical warfare” by pushing workers’ compensation claims through outsourced doctors to cut costs.

The union claims that the ATO systematically rejects nearly all Comcare claims and favours external evaluations over those from employees’ treating physicians.

While the ATO has reduced its workers’ compensation premium significantly, concerns have been raised about the fairness and impact of its cost-saving measures on employee well-being.
