From asic.gov.au: ASIC has filed a lawsuit against Hollard Insurance, alleging serious claim handling failures regarding a home insurance claim from a couple in regional Victoria that took nearly three and a half years to resolve.

The complaint includes accusations of breaching the duty of utmost good faith due to excessive delays and poor communication, which ultimately rendered the couple’s home uninhabitable.

ASIC is seeking legal declarations and civil penalties under the Insurance Contracts Act.
