From www.asbfeo.gov.au: The Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman has responded positively to the ACCC’s Supermarket Inquiry report, which highlights the challenges small business suppliers face due to market concentration, particularly with major supermarkets like Woolworths and Coles dominating the grocery sector.

The ASBFEO emphasised the importance of the Food and Grocery Code and new mediation arrangements to protect small businesses from unfair practices, citing that many suppliers fear damaging relationships when raising issues.

As of April 1, 2025, ASBFEO will assist with mediation and arbitration processes under the new Code to foster fairer dealings in the industry.
