From www.accountingweb.co.uk: (UK context) Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced an open consultation to strengthen measures against promoters of marketed tax avoidance schemes, aiming to provide HMRC with additional powers and sanctions.

The government seeks feedback on expanding the Disclosure of Tax Avoidance Schemes regime, introducing universal and promoter action notices, and enhancing information powers targeting legal professionals involved in such schemes.

Approximately £500 million of the tax gap relates to marketed avoidance schemes, and the consultation will run until June 18, 2025, inviting responses on 62 key questions.
